7.10.2020 Root River (Whalen to Peterson)<\/p>\n
We picked another beautiful day to go kayaking, on COVID 10.\u00a0 We switched from Saturday to Friday to be able to guarantee the weather.\u00a0 It turned out perfect at 86\u00b0 and water temps right at 70\u00b0.\u00a0 The water stage was at 5.2 feet, a little high but very doable for kayaks.\u00a0 We enjoyed a very leisure 11 mile trip at an average of 3.8 mph, plenty of push from the current so little effort on our part.\u00a0 Out total trip was a about 3.5 hours with a couple of stops.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Our crew for the day included:\u00a0 Teresa, Mikayla, Victor, Steve Dunn, myself, and Mick an old time regular returning to the kayaking group after a long hiatus. \u00a0We had a few mishaps today with Victor, MiKayla, and Mick enjoying a brief swim.<\/p>\n
Wildlife today included Eagles, Buzzards, Geese and 1 fawn enjoying a drink at the river\u2019s edge.\u00a0 The Buzzards seemed especially interested in us today\u2014maybe they had high expectations for a gourmet meal.<\/p>\n
