4.25.2021<\/strong>\u00a0 Black River (Hwy VV to Hunter\u2019s Bridge (2.5 ft\/mile )<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our second trip of the year\u2014still need a theme for the 2021 tours?\u00a0 It was an (OK) day, which for kayaking means that it was a little cool.\u00a0 We started out at 51\u00b0 and cloudy and the temperature dropped all day to 48\u00b0 and even had threatening clouds for a time.\u00a0 The sun started to peek through when we were all done, but still cold and windy again.\u00a0 Wind speeds were approximately 15-20 mph.\u00a0 The crew for the day included The Peters (Bill and They), Steve, Tom, and Me.\u00a0 There was a little bit of whining, but it chilled after a while.\u00a0 The water temperature is maintaining 50\u00b0, surprisingly.\u00a0 The water level today was right at 4.5 ft. which was adequate for this trip\u2014we only dragged a couple of times but that was due to not paying attention to the river.\u00a0 When the river talks, we should listen.\u00a0 We completed the 12.7 mile trip in 3 hours and 48 minutes, for an average speed of 3.8mph.\u00a0 We did not dally on breaks, due to the temperature, so we were completely done and home by 4pm.<\/p>\n

Our wildlife for the day was limited to a few very high flying Eagles\u2014specks in the air, Geese, and a surprise visitor\u2014the cold \u201cSocialist\u201d, so appropriate for the temperatures we experienced.<\/p>\n
