A little cloudy today with a few drops of rain early but not lasting. Temperatures were in only the mid-eighties instead of the forecast for the day of 94°. Water temperature was a comfortable but brisk 69°, and nice for September. Water stage was 3.5 feet–marginal, but adequate for our 12.7 mile trip. As you can see there was no current so we had to “work” our way down the river. Our total time was 5 hours, including stops, but we did average 3.6 miles per hour when we were moving. Bottom line–it was a perfect fall day, for Steve, Bill, Teresa, and myself.
There is some fall color starting to show in the river bed, as always earlier than the rest of the area; pretty colors, but a reminder that fall is just around the corner. Other than fall color, we saw a few Eagles, a Blue Heron, and other miscellaneous nature.
We have pictures from a couple of cameras, so the sequence may be off in a couple of spots, but we did capture the trip for your enjoyment.
If you did not join us today, you missed another perfect day on the River.
Which way do we go? I think the water is deeper on this side, what do you think?
Steve sharing his vast knowledge of the River
The following pictures show one of the water falls just off the River. Steve ventured back in the falls area to take these pictures. This water is COLD! But it is nature at its best.
The next couple of pictures are out of sequence–=they are ending pictures, but we are not there yet–much more to come.
You can start to see the fall colors. The water is just like a mirror, it is so calm.
See Teresa is really getting the hang of the dismount, she just needs a little more confidence. She has the technique!
Nice background for a picture. The beauty of nature.
This is the entrance to the falls we showed earlier. The little stream of very cold water is the landmark to finding them.
There is a Blue Heron in this picture–can you find him?
There he is–the Blue Heron, he just had to move a little.
Now we are at the end. Picture perfect ending to a great day.
