A bit of a cloudy day, but it is better this way due to the heat we have been having. Our day today reached 89°, was supposed to be hotter. We had the pleasure of entertaining 4 First Mates today–Joyce, Jill, Shelley, and Andrea. Steve Dunn, Tom Hundt, and I tried to entertain and help these ladies down the river–a river that was very low, being only 3.3 feet, with a very low current flow. The water was so low that we did have to walk a few times, because there just was not enough water. Unfortunately for the ladies, it may have been more work than they had bargained, but we still trudged on for 11.0 miles, and in the end I think we all enjoyed it, maybe the feeling of a “good” shoulder pain that made you feel like you had accomplished something this day. The water temperature was a cool 68°, so we could get refreshed at anytime.
We did not see much in the line of wildlife, and it did sprinkle for a short time, but we enjoyed some great camaraderie and finished the day with a smile. We enjoyed having you share in a little bit of our heaven and look forward to the next time–but with more water in the river bed.
