May 3rd and only the second trip of the year. We need to start making up some trips. We did have another great day today, 70° air temperature, and a water temperature of 50°. My traveling companions for the day were: Steve Dunn, Kroggi, Ben, and me. Our water level was a comfortable 7.1 feet, which gave us several sandbars for us to stop and enjoy. The best part of the trip was picking on the new guy–Kroggi. He thinks he is starting to “get” the hang of it, and when he starts to think that, we bring him right back down. Training is difficult for an older person like him 🙂 We did average 4.1 mph for the entire 12.9 mile trip, which allowed us a completion time of 3 hours and 11 minutes.
Our animals of note for the day were several deer running along the side of the river with us, and even one deer swimming right across the river in front of us. You will have to have faith and trust in all of us, because the deer was just out of camera view for a decent picture–but believe us he was there. Many Eagles again, and 1 large Eagles nest with young “chicks” in it. You can see the head of an Eagle chick looking over the side in a couple of the pictures. All had a great time, and we will be back again next week.
