Today marks the COVID 16 trip.  Four more trips to go and we have beaten the COVID-19 thing.  Today was a series of “Firsts”; Ladies Day (We had 50% of our crew was female), our first Boomerang Award, and the First Mark Spitz Award.  Our day started with a full dozen paddlers, 6 newbies, on a perfect 79° day with little to no wind and very calm waters at a comfortable 4.25 water level.  Couple that with water temperatures still at 65° and the day is better than ever.  Our 12 mile trip took 3 hours and 12 minutes with an additional 1 hour and 40 minutes of break time for some socializing.  We averaged 3.7 miles per hour due to the highly competitive paddling by “Fast Linda”—I had always heard that about her, but now I am a believer.  I have very few pictures of her, because she was so far ahead of me I only saw her at breaks and the end.

Our Boomerang award for the day goes to Pat C., for being the very first to survive and return to one of our outings, in spite of being invited by Steve Dunn—congratulations Pat.  The Mark Spitz award goes to Steve C. who loves to swim, but I take full responsibility for that, because I put him in a totally inappropriate kayak with a “Bears” team logo on it, and him being a “Viking’s” fan simply caused too much conflict and controversy in his life for the day—sorry Steve.

I was able to catch a couple of pictures of some Eagles and we all got fairly up close and personal to a few of them.  One Eagle even offered Pat C. a fish as a peace offering.

I am pretty sure all of our new participants:  Kelly, Shannan, “Fast” Linda-who always wants to lead,

Pat C, Steve C, and Kathie (who brought the other Pat C. back for his award presentation), all had a good time.  Speaking for your hosts we truly had a great time and hope you will join us on another adventure.  Your hosts—the “Old” folks included; Steve, Pat, Bill, Teresa, and Me.
