We enjoyed the company of the 2007 Oktoberfest Family with us today. They won a raffle prize of a kayak trip for your friends with a gourmet sandbar lunch. The “Family” consisted of Peter & Krin Krause, Amanda Nogle, Dan & Lynn Gundlach, and Marc & Sue Schultz. The guides for the day were Tom Hundt, Steve Dunn, and myself. Our professional gourmet cooking staff consisted of Bill Peters, and the Professionals that made and served the delicious rest of the buffet were; Teresa Peters, Roz Hundt, and a couple that got called away prior to lunch Mick & Rita Connors. We had a beautiful day for paddling our 12 mile trip down the Black River from Hunters Bridge to Lytle Bay, with the air temperature at 77° and the water at a brisk 70°, as Dan found out. Water is nice but “refreshing” at first.
The water was calm and no breeze, so the crew could just kick back and enjoy the day with an Eagle spotting, a few turtles, and a little commentary from Marc, about some of the Black River history. Most of it was actually true. (Just Kidding)
The lunch menu consisted of: Portobello Mushroom Burgers with your choice of cheese, Several Salads, Fresh Fruit, and of course Homemade Desserts. All served at a nice table clothed buffet table. While the burgers cooked the ladies served the salad and beverage, and then your burger choice. The buffet was then opened and you then could help yourself to all the food of your choice and as much as you could eat. Again your hosts hope you all enjoyed the food–it is unique to have this food on a kayak trip.
At the end of the meal, the Oktoberfest Family honored us with an “Ein Prosit”, which we full appreciated. All of us hope you enjoyed the trip as much as we enjoyed doing it, so
“Gemütlichkeit”

This house IS going to fall in the river before long–they have moved out and are salvaging what they can. The sand wall has steadily receded with each rain fall this summer. They have lost all of their frontage, and the house is now too dangerous to inhabit.

All great things must come to an end and sadly, this trip did that but first, we all had an outstanding experience lead by competent kayakers, served lunch by an excellent and talented crew and mother nature provided fab weather. Oh, we did not lose anyone.
Thank you is such a small word to relate how well we were treated. If laughs and giggles are a monitor, that was at the top of the scale. We appreciate all you did for us.
