5/30/2020 North Bend (Hwy VV) to Hunter’s Bridge

Well, another exciting COVID-5 day on the river in our never ending quest to have a good time. The weather was a beautiful day of 70° with water temperatures right at 65°, so perfect conditions except for the level—it was very high at 9.6 ft. with a current of 4x normal, so a very fast trip. We traveled 12.5 miles in 2.5 hours or 4.8 mph against a strong headwind at times. Our day started off with 7 people, Bill, Teresa, Tom, Steve, Pat, me, and a new guy Steve T.

The trip got exciting right away as the new guy decided he would swim the distance and went in the water after only about 50 yards. With the water current so fast and the level so high, we were not able to get the 2 parts back together again, so Steve T. was stranded at the starting point and the rest of us continued down the river with his kayak in tow for 12.5 miles

I have a very short video and only a few pictures of this trip, due to towing the kayak. We did see a few Eagles, but not good pictures, and a few deer running along the river in the trees. But as always, no matter the conditions, we had a great day and Steve T. said he would like to join us again sometime soon. We look forward to his participation.
