7.30.2020 Root River (Whalen to Rushford)

Today’s trip was COVID-12 and a great change from last week. This week the crew saw Eagles, Geese, Deer, and more Geese, so plenty of wildlife. The trip this week was a beautiful 16 mile tour of the long Root River trip ending by going over a dam. Nice excitement. Our travelers for the day were; Tom, Steve, Bill & Teresa, Me and –doing their “Swan Song” for the year were Mikayla and Victor, they are returning to the cruel work a day world of teaching in Mississippi. The day was a very comfortable 81 ° with a complimentary water temperature of exactly 70°. We did out cruise in total time of 5 hours that included stops for lunch and just to enjoy the day, but our moving average was 3.8 mph—a comfortable paddle. The only swimmer for the day was Victor, and that was at the very end because he was so excited to get out of the water so he could help Mikayla land her kayak—a wonderful guy.
