5/13/2018 Irving to Melrose

Today is a good example of why you don’t get too excited about weather forecasts until the last minute.  Original forecast was for heavy rain, lightning and cold.  Guess what?  The day today was not perfect, but not very far from it.  We cast off on a sunny morning around 10:30 am and finished with a few clouds, but a high temperature of 64° for the day.  Not bad, add to it, very calm waters and no wind.  The water stage today is at 7.2 feet and the water temperature is 54° again.  Not gaining much for the year on water temp, but it is tolerable, given we have no choice, if we want to go kayaking.

We, Bill Peters, Steve, me, and Dennis–just the 4 guys, made the trip today.  It was 12.3 miles in length and we averaged 4.5 mph, finishing the tour in 2 hours and 50 minutes.  Overall a great day.  Never believe a weatherman.
