4/18/2020 Hunter’s Bridge to Lytle Bay

The start of a new season of kayaking, in spite of the new Pandemic–COVID-19.  We are under a ‘Stay at Home” Quarantine, but decided to go, with proper social distancing, and enjoy beautiful day.  The 5 people that went, Bill, Teresa, Steve, Tom, and me, are definitely COVID FREE, no one has been anywhere for at least 3 weeks and have been observing their quarantine, so I feel the risk is extremely low.

We enjoyed a 69° day, at least by the time we were finished.  The water temperature was at a balmy 44°, but we did not intend to swim.  Everyone was dressed properly in the event of a spill.  Water levels was at a perfect 5.8 feet and the current was at 3360 cfs so a nice current, but we needed it pushing into a 30 mph wind most of the way–just good upper body exercise, as we completed our 12.3 mile cruise.  In spite of the wind resistance, we still averaged 3.8 mph and finished in a little over 3 hours.

It was a great day for getting out.
